Nicholaus David VanArsdale
Welcome to Nicholaus' Web Page!
Nicholaus was diagnosed January 27th, 2004 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with unfavorable features. Details of the onset and diagnosis are in his journal history. Nicholaus completed his three and a half years of chemotherapy on May 22, 2007.
Our thought for the day:
Start each and every day with an attitude of gratitude: Each day is a precious gift to be treasured!

It is hard to believe, but it has been over three years now since Nicholaus completed his treatment. He remains in terrific health and we daily send up a prayer of thanksgiving for him. This past May he has moved from doctor checkups every three months to now one every six months. PRAISE GOD!
As with everyone’s lives, much has happened in the past year. We have weathered many changes, including the closing of his school at the end of last year and his move to a new one. I am sorry to report that Nicholaus and his sister, Christal, lost their beloved grandmother Dorothy in February and their grandfather “Paw-Paw” in August. Nicholaus said it best when he said (in February) “I know that we’re sad, but grandma is in a better place now, and we’ll get to see her again someday”.
Nicholaus attended Camp Quality again this summer and as always enjoyed the many blessings offered at camp. He is in fifth grade this fall, and still continues to struggle with school due to the medications he had during treatment. He is a happy and funny, precocious boy of 11 ½.
Recently, our family in conjunction with KORT (Nicholaus’ Aunt Amanda Edsell’s employer) had some fundraising activities for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and altogether we raised over $700!!! Nicholaus was very excited to be the guest of honor. (As part of the Light the Night Walk for LLS October 2nd). To everyone who participated in any way, we say a huge THANK YOU!
We wish everyone well as we approach the holiday season. We are so grateful for everyone’s past prayers and support—GOD BLESS!
