Mom's Entry

Sorry I haven't entered anything since the 4th, the computer in the HOT unit went goofy. They are fixing it, but there is a place for parents in the lobby of the hospital that has computers for us to use and I am down there.

Shelby did have to spend her 16th birthday here at Children's. Not only was she stuck in the hospital, but she couldn't leave her room. This virus she has is still knocking her for a loop and she has still been really sick. Ths virus is what has trapped her in her room. We had set up a last minute party in the classroom down the hall from Shelby's room. Much of our families were here. Shelby didn't want to have the party at first, but after much talking and thought she gave the thumbs up. Once we found out that she couldn't leave her room I asked if we should cancel and Shelby came up with a solution that kept the party going. She said that everyone could be in the classroom and could rotate through her room for cake and time to talk with her. It worked pretty good for a last minute party and compromise. Shelby really did enjoy seeing all the family that were able to make it to the hospital. I told most of the people they didn't need to bring presents, but as usual no one listened to me (haha). Shelby did appreciate the gifts also, they were a nice way to brighten this extended hospital visit.

Until Shelby can get this virus under control, she will still be here. That means for at least another week. Hopefully just a week, but I am not holding my breath. I am getting depressed just writting this part, so I am going to change the subject.

Shelby may be getting a visit from her newest cousin today. Hanette and Denny and the kids are coming into town and hopefully will be able to stop at the hospital. Shelby hasn't seen any of them since December. She is looking forward to meeting her newest cousin.

I am ending with the same thing as always. Thanks you all for the prayers and support they are helping. I am going to ask for an extra prayer. One of Shelby's freinds from the HOT unit died last week and his family could use a little extra peace and comfort. Breon was a neat kid and he will be missed. Thanks again.

Love

Kim
